A Visitor

March 10th, 2010

Over the last few months we have been wondering why the front motion light keeps coming on through the night. Last night the reason was revealed. We arrived home from a night out in the big smoke and when we returned home there was a possum sitting on the carport roof near the steps. She did not seem too concerned about us and after a while scurried offf to wherever it is possums go to when they have observed humens for long enough. Stephen had left a dried apricot for her but she had left before she realised what it was.

A short while after she was back and this time the apricot had her attention. She nibbled away at it until finally it was all gone. Since she was not all to concerned about our presence I offer her a cabbage leaf. Obviously this is not good possum food and she was not the least interested. I investigated the fridge and came back with grapes and a piece of carrot. This was much better and she ate happilly until the carrot and grapes were gone. She then decided to check my hand and grabbed my fingers with her claws quite gently. With a bit of a nip of my finger to test if I was tasty or not she decided I was not suitable food and decided to head off to do her rounds.

She appears to have a reasonable sized baby in her pouch, so I expect we might see the little one in a month or so.

Safer Internet

There have been volumes written on the subject of online safety, some good and many that are quite misleading. The reasons that your use of the Internet carries risks is due to the opportunity for criminals to commit a crime with little chance of getting caught and high return on time invested. In other words “Internet crime does pay”. Read the rest of this entry »
