Solar Panels on roof

Solar electricity generation is now available to any person who owns their own property connected to the electricity grid. Called grid connect, the output of energy from soalar panels is fed into the electricity system to be used by other subscribers. The system owner is paid for the electricity “exported” to the grid.

The only condition is that the property owner can only be paid for any power they send out after their use is deducted. In our case this amounts to around $80 in the part of the year where solar output is at its lowest. So, the system has produced all the power we have used and sent $80 worth of surplus green electricity to the grid for other consumers to use.

If you would like to know more about this system, you can contact me and I will give you some numbers to contact for more information.

Farm Town players Beware

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

smasherI suppose it had to happen soon. When the target is 8 plus million potential victims, a scam is ripe for the picking. If you are a Farm Town player, or one of the many similar online games, you had better watch out!

It seems that most of the players are served a stream of adverts, most of which they just ignore. BUT! When you see an advert that says your computer might be infected by a virus or malware, you take notice, right? If yuo click and follow the link you might be opening the cyber door for unwanted features on your computer.

Suddenly you computer runs slower than molassas in hte wintertime. A pop up tells you you are infected with hundreds of nasty programs, virusses and data stealing trojans. You have just become a victim.

farmtownTo prevent this situation happening to you, make sure you do not install anything you are not sure about. Keep your virus scanner up to date.

To fix the problem, get expert advice before you do anything else. A common problem I see is the person who thinks it is easy to fix such a problem make a 30 minute service call into a 4 hour marathon or a 32 hour computer reload. Unless you REALLY know what you are attempting to do consult someone who has the experience to effectively fix the problem. DON’T be tempted to follow the advice of a backyard EXPERT. They more often than not will make it much worse than it started out.

There are more than ever cyber criminals and it is your charge to not make it easy for them. Take the time to understand what you are doing online and be suspicious of every offer that you see. Unless you really know what you are doing, do not install anything on your computer before you research it.
